Fellowships Advisor
Before you meet with the fellowships advisor:
-
When beginning the fellowship process, be sure to visit the school fellowships website to determine if there are scholarships for which you are eligible and interested.
-
Visit your professors and departmental advisors to determine if there are special fellowships in your field that you should pursue. They know more about your field than any other advisor.
Writing a Good Essay
Nationally Competitive Fellowships and Scholarships
- Read the essay prompts very carefully. Answer every single aspect of the question completely. You should consider answering the question in the order that it is posed and even utilizing some of the language of the question in your answer to indicate that you are directly answering the question. (When submitting essays to the fellowship advisor, always include the full essay questions.)
Freshmen and Sophomores
Begin to imagine what you'd like to do after graduation. It doesn't have to be specific and you don't have to stick to it, but do imagine what might be most exciting to do after graduation. Be creative. Dream big.

Courses and Curriculum
The University Honors Program Curriculum combines Honors-specific requirements with the requirements determined by a student’s major. The Honors Program is offered in every undergraduate major. For information about specific requirements for each major, please see the most current bulletin.
Awards and Honors
Students who successfully complete the University Honors Program wear distinctive medals during the graduation ceremony. In addition, they receive a special designation in the graduation program and an inscription on their transcripts and diplomas.
On the Thursday evening before graduation, graduating Honors seniors, their families and friends are invited to the Honors Senior Convocation. Held in the Ignatius Chapel, the ceremony includes an awards presentation, and the recognition of each, individual Honors student as he or she is presented with the Honors medal.
