Dux Academicus Award

We are seeking nominatons for the Dux Academicus Award of Loyola University New Orleans. The deadline for nominations is Monday, November 6, 2017. 

The Dux Academicus Award of Loyola University New Orleans is presented to recognize an outstanding member of the Loyola faculty who, through demonstrated ability, imparts the knowledge and wisdom of the liberal arts and sciences or the professions to students in a manner consistent with the distinctive philosophy of Loyola as a Jesuit institution of higher education.

Criteria for selection

  • Excellence in teaching
  • Superiority of scholarship
  • Outstanding general contribution to the university and/or the community at large
  • Leadership in imparting knowledge and wisdom of the liberal arts and sciences or the professions to students in a manner consistent with the distinctive philosophy of Loyola as a Jesuit institution of higher education

Eligibility

  • The recipient may be a full-time or part-time teaching member of the faculty.
  • Academic deans are not eligible.
  • The recipient must have been on the faculty for at least one year.
  • An individual may receive this award more than once during his or her career at Loyola.

Nomination Procedure

Nominations may be submitted by any member of the university faculty. Nominations should include one letter of nomination and a current curriculum vitae. Faculty nominating a colleague may also submit one additional letter of support from a colleague (not to exceed five pages), as well as one letter of support from a student (not to exceed five pages). Additional materials or letters submitted will not be considered.

The 2017 Dux Academicus Award will be presented during the spring semester convocation.
