What kind of computer can I use on campus?

Virtually any computer hardware and operating system can function to a certain degree on Loyola's network. However, Client Services can only support the following operating systems:

  • Windows XP (Home and Professional)
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7.0
  • Mac OS X.V. 14.4.6 Tiger
  • MAC OS X v. 5.0 Leopard
  • MAC OS X v. 6.0 Snow Leopard

Client Services will support all aspects of computing on Loyola owned machines, and on personal and student owned machines, we will support only Internet connectivity issues and anti-virus software installations.

Network connectivity is provided in all residence hall rooms and in many public locations. A computer must have an ‘ethernet’ or ‘network’ card installed to connect to the network.

Instructions for connecting to the network may be found on the Information Technology web site’s resources > documentation link. Assistance may also be obtained by contacting the I.T. Help Desk at (504) 865-2255 or by submitting an online assistance request form.
