Students who successfully complete the University Honors Program wear distinctive white stoles during the graduation ceremony. In addition, they receive a special designation in the graduation program and an inscription on their transcripts and diplomas. The graduating Honors senior with the most distinguished academic record, including highest grade point average in Honors courses, is presented with the University Honors Program Outstanding Student Award in memory of Dr. Michele Saint Romain. The graduating Honors senior with the most active contributions to the University Honors Program, to the University, and to the community at large receives the William T. Cotton Service Award. The graduating senior with the most outstanding senior thesis or project receives the Constance Mui and John T. Sebastian Award for Outstanding Research in Honors.
