Short Bio

Brad Petitfils is the Senior Director of Student Success. He is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Student Success Center, including the Office of Academic Advising, the Office for Accessible Education, the Office of Student Success, and the Office of Writing and Learning Resources. 

He earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum Theory, a field that asks educators to rethink and reconceputalize the classroom experience. He was initially inspired by the work of Jean Baudrillard, and has since developed research interests in the fields of hyperreality and posthumanism and how those theories affect undergraduate education and the development of adolescents and young adults.

His first book, Parallels & Responses to Curricular Innovation: The Possibilities of Posthumanistic Education, was published in 2014. It appears in the Routledge series: International Studies in the Philosophy of Education.

He is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Psychological Sciences and in the Teacher Certification sequence, where he teaches First-Year Seminars and Common Curriculum courses, and is Director of Loyola’s summer abroad program in Paris, France.
